Problems with O2 3G Network
Posted by Stephen Downey in 3G, Change Network, GSM, N95, o2 on September 11, 2007
I have not been able to make or receive calls on my phone since about 12 o’clock. SMS messages are coming in fine but I keep getting the message “Network Busy”.
I rang O2 (1909) and there is a message saying that they are having issues with the 3G Network in Meath and Louth. I’m in Blancharstown at the moment so there issues are strectching as far as here.
If you are having a similar problem switch your Network Mode to GSM instead of Dual Mode. On a N95, you will find this under:
Tools–>Settings–>Phone–>Network
You should be able to make and receive calls with this setting.
UPDATE:
It seems the 3G network is back working now.
Just got a mention on News Talk

I just got a call from a friend to say that I got a mention on George Hooks technology show on Newstalk today. Today must be one of the only days that I didn’t listen to George on the way home from work. Partly due to the Fugitive competition starting on 98 fm this morning. I should have stuck with George. I had a look on their web site but can’t find the pod cast of the show yet. It seems like the feeds latest show is from the 27th. If anyone has a link to the podcast of the show can you send it to me.
The technology slot is run with Karlin Lillington. Apparently they were talking about the N95 and how to get the GPS working. This is the blog entry that she was talking about. I hope it helps with any problems you have with GPS on the N95.
Thanks Karlin for pointing people to my website. If you are here for the first time, you can subscribe to my posts here.
You had me at pinch…

I just saw a video of the launch of the Apple ipod touch via the BBC website. It looks fantastic.
It also comes with WIFI which means you can connect to ITunes on the go. Another surprise was Safari web browser, so you can browse the web. The part that most impressed me though was the ability to pinch the screen to zoom in!
There are loads of other cool features like the accelerometer that automatically rotates it the screen to landscape. Not sure if I can get one soon as I spend my gadget allowance on a N95 already.
